Center backs learn to separate the instant the keeper collects, and to check their shoulder before the ball arrives.
30 × 25 grid. Keeper starts every rep. Wide gates pay double, so the back line has a reason to separate.
SET UP
30 × 25 grid in a corner with a real goal and keeper. Three defenders plus the holding mid inside against two pressers. Four gates: one on each wide edge, two on the far end.
HOW IT RUNS
- Keeper starts every repetition with the ball in hand or at feet.
- Possession team escapes by dribbling or passing through any gate.
- Pressers win it and finish on goal — keep their score out loud.
- Rotate the pressers every 90 seconds.
SCORING
- Through a wide gate2
- Through an end gate1
- Pressers win it and score2
COACHING POINTS
- Center backs split wide the moment the keeper collects — not after.
- Check your shoulder before it arrives, not once it's at your feet.
- First touch away from the presser. Never into them.
